i haven't had a celebrity sighting in a while, so i figure this one was worth mentioning...jordan and i had dinner at the grove last night at the cafe by the banana republic, and who walks in and sits at the table right behind us? rosario dawson. she was pretty hot i have to say. shorter than you would expect of course, and just as skinny. but yeah, pretty hot. jordan says that the guy from sex and the city, samantha's young boyfriend, was also in the group, but i didn't really see him. i kinda caught a glimpse as he was walking by our table, but i didn't see his face. so i'll just trust jordan on that one.

anyway, so then lauren met up with us and then we went over to barney's beanery to meet up with adam, and then stacey showed up later. it was pretty chill. adam and i kept asking ourselves why we were there when we don't really care for that whole frat/sorority crowd that place seems to have. but we entertained ourselves playing foosball.

and that was the beginning of the 3 day weekend. me and stacey were talking and we're determined to eat hot dogs and drink beer as much as we can this weekend! i only wish it was better bbq'ing weather, but oh well. we'll drink enough beer and it won't matter! ;)

the shout out louds were really good! they are just so cute! in that wanna pinch their cheek kinda way. every time they would finish a song jen n. and i would look at each other and go, "awwww!" haha. watching them bounce around on the stage was just a lot of fun. i'm glad i got to see them again. oh, and i bought their cd at the show last night (for 10 bucks! what a deal!) and was listening to it at work today, and it just put me in such a good mood. it's totally a great happy fun times album. it'll be playing in my car for a while, i'm sure. unfortunately, marjorie fair and the dears, the other bands that played last night, did not impress. but it's ok cuz i was basically just there for the shout out louds anyway.

also, i found out at work today that i'm going to boston in august! cool dudes! boston is actually a city that i've already visited, but it's all good...i'm all about the business trips!

i had the weirdest dreams last night. they involved (in the order i remember them happening) a game of checkers, tom cruise hitchhiking, and billy corgan square dancing. really freakin weird, but kinda cool. very entertaining, i have to say. kinda like watching a movie while i sleep!

this past weekend was another crazy party weekend, celebrating joe's birthday in palos verdes where we all spent the night. it was good times, but i think i need to be more active in keeping myself in check when i drink. cuz honestly, waking up on the floor of the bathroom wrapped in a wet towel wasn't exactly my finest party moment. and spending the whole day after recovering from the hangover isn't all that fun, either. what i need is another patpolk. ah pat, now there's a good man. i don't remember how it started, but we developed this 10 point scale (1 being pretty much sober and 10 being puking) and he was always so good about first making me decide what my drunk goal was for the night and then asking me throughout the night what level i was at to make sure i was on track. haha, i had almost forgotten about this system because i would hardly see pat anymore! and now especially, since he's graduated and moved away. =( but this is good that i remembered because now i can teach the system to someone else so that all of pat's hard work won't have been in vain! yes, this will be done. for pat! =P

and tonight is the shout out louds/dears show at the el rey. a bunch of us bought tickets cuz we liked the shout out louds so much at coachella. "just a shy swedish band." so cute! so i'm excited about that. this will be my first post-coachella show, and first in a string of good summer shows, i hope. coming up in the next few months are the doves, beck, arcade fire, and a bunch of other shows at the hollywood bowl. and i'm keeping my eye out for some billy corgan tickets if anyone knows anyone w/ an extra ticket. damn show sold out on me! it's probably for the best cuz i've been spending so much money on concert tickets and cd's. but then i decided the other day that dammit, this makes me happy, so i will spend to my heart's content when it comes to my music!

i'm not really a big bright eyes fan, but the video for "first day of my life" is really cute! (you can go watch it on launch) i've been totally bored at work, so on top of chatting w/ stacey and jordan on aim, i've been watching trailers and videos. that video was definitely the gem of the day. god, there's a lot of crap out there.

also, the new doves is really growing on me. i was just telling jen the other day that it's no "lost souls" but that it was still "good." but now i'm *really* starting to like it in it's own right. and dammit, i can't wait for the new coldplay and foo fighters to come out! i was bummed that i couldn't find the videos for either of their singles that are out right now. oh well. anyway, i'm so excited about all this new stuff coming out! awww, music...now there's the love of my life! =)

wow, and just like that, may is already half over. well, i'm still alive in case anyone was wondering. which i'm sure no one was cuz i'm sure i've seen everyone at at least one of the many social gatherings that have been going on as of late. it's been pretty cool. it definitely feels like summer. i love that!

so, when last i left off, i was getting ready for coachella, and man, it did not disappoint. it was fucking amazing!! it was soooo much fun hanging out w/ everyone in the dirt, laughing our asses off the whole time. and of course, the music! i won't go into everything cuz it's all in the past now, but really quickly, my favorites were coldplay and arcade fire. god, i love chris martin. he's just so dreamy. =P i was a little scared that arcade fire wouldn't live up to all the hype, but god, they were fucking good. being in that crowd was the best energy of the whole weekend, in my opinion. i just remember seeing all the wowed expressions on everyone's faces when the show ended. everyone agreed at least a little bit more w/ joe's "it's like touching god" sentiment. haha. i also really enjoyed rilo kiley, the futureheads, snow patrol, radio 4, the faint, and jem. nice surprises were the shout out louds (who i hadn't really hear of before but really *really* ended up liking them), tegan and sara, and the prodigy. joe, jen, stacey, and i had the best time dancing to prodigy at the end of night two and agreed that it was the perfect way to end coachella. there was so much energy, it was awesome! to steal rick's term, i totally had a party orgasm.

let's see, weezer and new order were kind of disappointing. weezer's new stuff will just never live up to the classic stuff, and new order are just showing their age now. sad but true. also, nine inch nails was surprisingly good. for me not being that big of a fan, i could appreciate that they were rocking pretty hard. the new stuff sounded really good, too. and of course, being that there was so much to see, i had to make some tough choices and ended up not seeing a lot of bands i REALLY wanted to see (bloc party, spoon, chemical brothers, the bravery immediately come to mind). i also would have liked to spend more time in the electronica tent. but oh well. it was still a truly awesome time. ha, and i ended up writing more than the "quick recap" i intended to, but that just shows how much went on. it was definitely one of the best weekends/events of 2005 for me so far. awww, coachella. can't wait for next year!

the past couple weeks have been filled with hanging out w/ various combinations of the usual cast of characters. brian and gino's bbq/beer pong tournament was so much fun! stacey and i were a team and we lost right away, but it's ok cuz we had a cool name (...and you will know us by the trail of beer). haha. i also remember wakerly cracking me up at the end of the night w/ his "holla back." you probably had to be there, but oh my god, it was HI-larious! there was a really fun bowling night last week, a movie night last friday (i really liked hitchikers guide to the galaxy...really quirky and funny), and then amanda's bonfire on saturday, which was also a really fun time. man, my friends know how to party! i'm so proud of us! and i'm really glad that there are all these fun activities planned cuz work's been really slow lately. our next big events aren't til july so all there is to do until then is the boring administrative stuff. so it's nice to have these great weekends to look forward to during the week.

so that's my life as of late. a decent balance of work and play, i think. go me.
