so last weekend turned out to be really good, despite the bullshit leading up to it (you all know what i mean). it started out with a short week at work and a last minute trip to san diego...which turned out to be great! no sake prom for me, but i have to say san diego wasn't a bad runner-up prize at all. the only thing of course, was that i missed my friends. but i got to see everyone when i got back on sunday and we all went to the hollywood bowl for a picnic and a show. and THAT was soooo much fun! it wasn't the same seeing arcade fire from so far away, but it was still good in it's own way. honestly, most of the actual show is kind of a blur, cuz i ended up getting a *little* tipsy. haha, just a little, though. ;) and anyway, i was mostly enjoying the company.

so now this work week is almost over as well, and i have yet another long weekend to enjoy! yay! good ol' fourth of july. not only providing a paid day off of work and an excuse to drink and celebrate, but also kicking off my birthday week! yep, i'm turning the big 2-5 (or as i've taken to calling it, my quarter-life crisis). haha. anyway, i did squat shit for my birthday last year, so this year i'm kinda making a big deal out of it. i hope it's good!

ladies and gentlemen, this moment needs to be documented. last night i achieved a new, all-time highest bowling score: 164!!! AND i also got a turkey! three strikes in a row, baby! i've never done that before! i'm so proud of myself. i acknowledge that this is probably a total fluke, but whatever. i'll bask in the moment! =)

also, thanks to the witnesses of this fine, fine event (lo, jenopoulos, adam, and tinna) for all the props!

so i went to target last night to buy the new coldplay and the new white stripes albums...and they were all out! of both of them! so then, being the clever girl (i think) i am, i decide to hop over to the best buy which is right next door, cuz i figure they should have decent prices, too...and they were closed. how sad. denied! twice in one night. bummer. i guess now i'll just wait til saturday and try again. if they're still out, i'll try to get a rain check at target so i can still get the sale price. for now i'll console myself w/ the downloads that james sent our way.

let's see. bloc party on friday was pretty good. i have to say that i don't think they quite lived up to all the hype (and there is a LOT of hype around this band), but i still enjoyed myself. it's easy to forgive a less-than-spectacular performance when the music is still really good. which it was. =)

after the show jen and i went over to shaun's party, which was pretty fun for the short amount of time we were there. and as i'm thinking about it now, i'm remembering a lot of funny little tidbits. like, when i saw this one guy go over to the keg...he tried to get some beer, but then realized that the keg was tapped. he kinda stood there for a moment (not knowing what to do, i guess), and then throws his red plastic cup to the floor. haha, it was great.

the rest of the weekend was pretty chill. didn't do much except go to the mayday screening on saturday. my friends won something, so that was cool. and then sunday i think the only time i left the house was to go have lunch with jordan. the rest of the day was spent reading and watching dvd's. i kinda liked that tho, cuz usually i feel like i'm always running around on the weekends and by the time sunday night comes around, i'm just tired. this time around i was totally rested and relaxed.

what a good week! starting of course w/ the day off on monday, which was spent chillin' at stacey's barbeque w/ LOTS of good food, thanks to jordan! oh man, it was one of those occasions where you just can't stop eating no matter how full you are cuz everything is sooooo good. the rest of the weekend was also pretty chill. not the crazy party weekend that i was hoping for at first, but it was still lots of fun. and it's probably good for me to remember that i don't need to get totally wasted to have good times. i especially remember saturday night walking to the 7-11 by jen n's house after having just one drink at lola's and just acting totally stupid. not cuz we were drunk, not really, but just cuz. picture a group of girls (and jordan) walking down the street being loud and giggly and just STUPID. haha, i talked to jen about it afterwards and seriously, if we were anyone else we'd wanna slap us. haha. it was quite fun, though. and then sunday night a bunch of us went to see star wars (my favorite part..."aaaaand, now i'm on fire." hahaha. HI-larious, even if unintentional), followed by some karaoke revolution at my place. yessss!

so then i get to work on tuesday and turn on the morning becomes eclectic like i always do, and lo and behold i win tickets to see fischerspooner on wednesday night! awesome! that was the first time i ever won anything off the radio. and it was a really good show, too! i ended up going w/ angie (the new roommate) and we both really enjoyed it. it was total dance party music and it was awesome! the only thing that kinda pissed me off was when they were playing "emerge" they broke it off at that break in the song, right before the last part where it goes into that really great climax, and the lead singer guy went off on some weird banter and they even kinda started to play something else. it seemed that they were really bent on being a tease. but they finally finished the song and it was good and all, but duuuuuude...don't fucking pull out before the climax. that's just cruel. but overall, a really enjoyable show. they are a really weird band (we're talking costumes and dancers and projected images), which made for a really entertaining performance (nice to see when i wasn't dancing my ass off). and all for FREEEEEEE!!! =)

and now it's friday and i get to go to another free show tonight, this time thanks to jen's hookups. bloc party at the el rey!! woo! i'm excited, especially since i missed them at coachella and everyone raved about them. i was all set to buy my ticket, too, but then jen told me she could get us in. which was really lucky, actually, cuz i heard those tickets sold out really fast. so yay!

damn, i am on such a high from all this great music. i love it!
